Lee, the series catches up with all the real-time happenings of Harper, Robyn, Lance, Jordan, Quentin, Shelby, Murch and Candace. We have watched these college besties reunite for weddings, a wild and crazy episode on a balcony, a show stopping baby arrival and a funeral that had us all in tears (<i>Mia we miss ya' girl</i>). </p><p>According to Regina Hall (Candace), originally the last chapters were to be told on the big screen and it was immediately discovered it was just too much to sum up in two hours. Aside from tuning into the news and a Hulu binge every now and then, I was tuned out of the television landscape. My Twitter feed was filled to the brim with reality tv conversations, Amazon Prime must-watch's and there was little Miss Tres Chic being left out of the party. </p><p>Late last year I made a consorted effort to actually watch new shows instead of my daily rotation of "Blue Bloods" <i>(every season)</i> and ABC's now canceled "Brother's & Sister's". My business boo <i>(what I call my boyfriend) </i>often laughs at me when he comes home and I'm engrossed in the Reagan & Walker family like I'm their lost family member. With so much despair from the racial reckoning and injustices recorded LIVE for all the world to see I was leaning in to what was familiar, made me smile and was <i>safe. </i></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://ntvb.tmsimg.com/assets/p20884250_b_h8_aa.jpg?w=960&h=540" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="450" data-original-width="800" height="225" src="https://ntvb.tmsimg.com/assets/p20884250_b_h8_aa.jpg?w=960&h=540" width="400" /></a></div><p><br /></p>Amazon Prime's Harlem had me all the way in.... I watched the entire season in three days and found myself giggling, having a few <i>"Yes Girl" </i>moments and missing my hometown of New York City. The phenomenal cast remined me of my sista' girls growing up in Brooklyn. From relationship dramas to workplace politics there were so many <i>"Been There"</i> moments for me. I can't wait for the next season and what the the future holds for these ladies. <p></p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.jagurltv.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/C936A434-286F-465C-B410-8563F15D0596-696x378.jpeg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="378" data-original-width="696" height="217" src="https://www.jagurltv.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/C936A434-286F-465C-B410-8563F15D0596-696x378.jpeg" width="400" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">SugaBerry hosts Tika Sumpter & Thai Randolph</td></tr></tbody></table><p>And can we chat about podcast for a minute??? </p><p>I've been obsessed with podcasts for a minute, even hosted my own on BlogTalk radio once upon a time and I'm currently having a blast with my <a href="https://www.podomatic.com/podcasts/realtalkwithkishana">Real Talk With Kishana</a> podcast. Podcasts are escapism with a purpose for me. Not only am I always learning something new but it delivers unique perspectives on issues I'm grappling with. Tika Sumpter's podcast <a href="https://www.sugaberry.com/">Sugaberry</a> is giving me LIFE these days. Along with being the first and only audio media company for and by Black women it's hosted by Tika and Thai Randolph. If you're searching for some inspiration, community and all the feel goods, Sugaberry may be for you.</p><p>And finally.... These days I am leaning into all my HAPPY. </p><p>Not just being happy with my choices and decisions but unapologetically happy with who and what I allow into my sacred space of life. I like to say I am living in a glass house. My house is fragile, has value and is worthy of being protected at all costs. And like my energy and larger than life personality, my house ain't for <i>erry'body </i>and was never meant to be. </p><p><i>I pray you're also leaning into your Happy and all the FABULOUS that makes you better....</i></p><p>XO,<br />Kishana</p>Treschicstylehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14937579104860714787noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3394065123036610512.post-48791991713219400892022-01-27T06:36:00.001-05:002022-01-27T07:24:08.121-05:00An Op-Ed: Dear White Women, Why Does My FABULOUS Offend You?<p class="mobile-photo"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3MDdLyBE9UAZVGjiJECjogzESWr40xok3ZY-iR8TQ9OEZYOyuFTIio1o5IUfo20U_-HALDfXFpaZ2laZJXpjII5UNkihB9dyZc5HafVfTOUQIJWUCPBeASLSABK0w874bh27m36HMtctD/s1600/IMG_20210916_204341_717%257E3-789696.jpg"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_7057848418203333426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3MDdLyBE9UAZVGjiJECjogzESWr40xok3ZY-iR8TQ9OEZYOyuFTIio1o5IUfo20U_-HALDfXFpaZ2laZJXpjII5UNkihB9dyZc5HafVfTOUQIJWUCPBeASLSABK0w874bh27m36HMtctD/s320/IMG_20210916_204341_717%257E3-789696.jpg" /></a></p><div dir="auto"><div class="gmail_quote" dir="auto"><div class="gmail_attr" dir="ltr">Recently on a quick Publix run in Chattanooga, a worker made a beeline to where I was standing at the cashier line to question me if I watched the show "Empire". <br /></div><div dir="auto"><div dir="auto"><br /></div><div dir="auto">After an internal gasp of "wtf", I replied, "No" with little emotion and without even looking toward her to even notice her reaction. Determined to make her ill fated point she went on to ask the other white girl bagging my groceries if she watched the show, remarked how I looked like "Cookie" and began to pull up some imagery on her phone all whilst on the company dime. </div><div dir="auto"><br /></div><div dir="auto">Occurrences like this are far too common in my daily life and often leaves me wondering how my donning a full length mink, heels or a wide brimmed hat correlates with a depiction of a sassy convicted felon ready to pop off at any moment. These diva like comparisons are exhausting, unflattering and downright racist. </div><div dir="auto"><br /></div><div dir="auto">In lieu of just stating she liked my outfit she felt the need to reach for the lowest common denominator to compare me to. </div><div dir="auto">Behaviors such as these have me to believe that atttractive and stylish black women somehow trigger white women. </div><div dir="auto"><br /></div><div dir="auto">Even a quick run into the local mall can be daunting. The audacity of me to be carrying a Chanel 19 bag in thier Dillard's at 2 pm on a Monday with a card in hand to purchase yet another designer bag the store has placed under lock & key. The irrration on their faces and undercover eye roll are just yet another display of their covert animosity towards black women. </div><div dir="auto"><br /></div><div dir="auto">White women have long been considered the standard of beauty and have benefitted from this ideology in more ways that we can ever imagine. Malcom X once stated that the most disrespected person in America is the Black Woman. This holds true today even with a woman of color holding down the second highest office in the land. </div><div dir="auto"><br /></div><div dir="auto">When a white women remarks on my style or appearance with a compliment she expects me to sort-of bow down with a giddy response of appreciation. These emotions leave us seeking joy, indulging in self care AND incorporating a lil' color in the style mix these days. </p><p class="mobile-photo" style="text-align: left;">"Dopamine Dressing" is a term popping up everywhere and even has a section on the Asos website dedicated to the burgeoning trend. Dopamine is a neurotransmitter that's released on the brain when one receives pleasure. Dopamine dressing is based on the theory that we can experience joy through fashion by wearing bright hues. We often associate colors with certain feelings. From the calming effects of blues to the optimism of yellow, color can dictate your overall mood. </p><p class="mobile-photo" style="text-align: left;">I've always embraced the idea of experimenting with fashion. From bright punchy hues to the muted black on black that monopolized my earlier years in New York, my closet is a kaleidoscope of <i>"Happy"</i>. These little pieces of happy drastically improve my outlook during these dark times, deliver a glimpse into my personal style and exudes confidence like no other. </p><p class="mobile-photo" style="text-align: left;">The trend is leading is gaining momentum as seen on the runways and on our fave Instagram influencers. And while the explosion of color is something to be embraced, frolicking through the streets like a bag of skittles may not be the entire goal. My advice is to find your way, identify what works for you and style your way to happy one <i>fabulous</i> color at a time.</p><table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><div style="text-align: left;"> </div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div></td></tr></tbody></table><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifOGXQuUlvAO1WzaS8X2uETqPz-PP3NRxvqKepKa5u56L2RqOcOyTDPSTV3wpryOouvQuq0l0qSyKWZAbfuaNSExFP3-d4G-b_mPQprwXh1ElvrEAhXf1OsqYSQTy3uUWF6QowYkq7r_Ak/s1600/IMG_1743-749940.jpg"></a></div><p></p><div dir="auto"><br /><br /><div data-smartmail="gmail_signature"><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /> </div></div> Treschicstylehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14937579104860714787noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3394065123036610512.post-82583118347172201052022-01-25T17:27:00.000-05:002022-01-27T22:44:14.875-05:00In Chic Beauty: 44, Fabulous & Considering Botox... The past two years of pandemic life has uniquely altered the way we live, shop and ultimately thrive in the world. Work days, vacay days and just about everyday has felt the effects of a new normal. One positive takeaway from the at-home time is the ability to re-evaluate our wardrobe needs and wants. The practice of holding on to old pieces that never get worn or buying new ones that may only see a single wear is getting old and often times down right expensive. </p><p class="mobile-photo" style="text-align: left;">Below I'm breaking down 5 wardrobe resolutions that will allow you to make space, save a few coins and look your best in the process. </p><p class="mobile-photo" style="text-align: left;"><b>1. Don't Buy Something Just Because It's a Bargain</b></p><p class="mobile-photo" style="text-align: left;">While we all adore a 70% off sale anytime of the year, it's hardly a deal if the item sits at the back of our closets never seeing the light of day. </p><p class="mobile-photo" style="text-align: left;"><b>2. Create a Uniform</b></p><p class="mobile-photo" style="text-align: left;">The key to always looking good is knowing what looks good on you. One of the biggest misconceptions of being stylish is that you should never buy something similar to what you already own. While it's never my intention to own a closet full of black slacks and wide brim hats, it's a formula for me and indicative of my personal style. And Yes, It Works!</p><p class="mobile-photo" style="text-align: left;"><b>3. Skip The Trends</b></p><p class="mobile-photo" style="text-align: left;">Just because everyone else is wearing it doesn't necessarily mean you have to wear it too. Do stirrup pants or palazzo pants ring any bells? Shopping well means shopping for classic finds that will transition from decade to decade... NOT season to season. </p><p class="mobile-photo" style="text-align: left;"><b>4. Become BFF's With Your Closet</b></p><p class="mobile-photo" style="text-align: left;">It's time to become reacquainted with your closet. Dig deep in the back and discover those pieces that may have become forgotten during pandemic life. Toss what you don't want and create new looks with what you keep.</p><p class="mobile-photo" style="text-align: left;"><b>5. Invest In What You Already Own</b></p><p class="mobile-photo" style="text-align: left;">As we approach yet another impending lockdown it may be the time to watch your spending. Repairing designer shoes may be more cost affective than buying a new pair. Tap into your local seamstress, shoe repair or handbag restoration companies. It's worth spending money to get things fixed versus buying them over and over again. </p><div dir="auto"></div> Treschicstylehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14937579104860714787noreply@blogger.com0
