Dear Black Women: May you refrain from being grateful for acceptance into places and spaces you truly deserve to be in.

Today's nomination of Ketanji Brown Jackson is yet another exhausting reminder of the hurdles and aggressions Black women face on a daily basis. Judge Jackson's Harvard education upsets Lindsey Graham to no end and has right wing politicians questioning her qualifications.

In the history of the United States Ketanji Jackson Brown is poised to be the first Black Supreme Court Justice. Yet the narrative that she was selected on the basis of race continues to follow this educated and accomplished individual.

Being unapologetically confident as a Black women oftentimes garners stereotypes of being difficult, sassy or even angry. I check all the boxes proudly and will continue to demand the respect I deserve in every space I encounter.

PERIOD.
